After Laura is a mystery novel about the love triangle formed by a pianist, a captivating woman and the powerful music of Beethoven. The protagonist, a funeral pianist, Salvador Dalmau, meets a femme fatale who turns his life upside down and destroys his marriage. But there is a third element in discord, which is Beethoven or, more precisely: Beethoven's music. Invisible, but present. The reader will relive the darkest passages in the composer's life, such as the famous figure of the "immortal beloved", his deafness and his suicide attempts. But the novel also poses the enigma of an unknown composition, an unpublished work that will unexpectedly intervene in Salvador Dalmau's life. Music will be the link between today's world and Beethoven's world, between the living and the dead. After Laura takes us through the most select auditoriums, behind the performers' dressing rooms, between palaces and cemeteries, through Vienna, Barcelona and New York. The novel gives us a warning: music can change people's destiny, it can communicate with the afterlife and it can also be a lethal weapon.
