There is not always someone else when a relationship breaks up... Or maybe there is? The protagonist of this novel had always been used to a life script, to a fixed score, but now he discovers that life will have to be imbued with jazz. During the seasons of an entire year he will have time to set up an apartment, build a new universe and meet new places and people. His midlife crisis is mixed with scenes from his childhood, and his memories contrast with the growth of his children and the new reality that surrounds him. Starting over is better if done in silence, but he will soon discover that silence does not exist. There is always the noise of the city, like the sound of jazz. There is always a light on in the hallway. There is always someone else.
